What is the Trager Approach?

The Trager Approach is a form of movement education developed by Milton Trager, M.D. Simply put, it is the elongation up through the centerline and feeling the weight and swing of the limbs and torso. More complexly, it is sending new waves of pleasure throughout the body, so the body can make new neural pathways. The body can recall the pleasure and send nerve impulses in different directions. Through the use of gentle non-intrusive rocking, elongating and softly coaxing movements, the client is able to rediscover feelings of playfulness and freedom perhaps not felt since childhood. The rhythmic motions can bring about the experience of peace and serenity, a high-energy state of well-being, beyond relaxation. From this peaceful state, range of motion can be improved without pain.

Peace:
It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
