Power of the Pause (Paws?) EZezine

Believe it or not...

this is Ripley, Anneís big yellow dog, writing this newsletter. I have been very bored this month, so Anne decided to keep me busy. With all this snow, we donít go for our usual adventurous walks. We walk down the middle of the street around and around the same 2 quiet blocks near our house. The snow piles are so high, I can hardly see over them to check on the other dogs in the neighborhood! Forget about trying to sniff the trees, they are too far away.

I have noticed something interesting walking in the fresh snow. The second time around, Anneís footprints are farther apart. Mine are the same. I think it is because while she is goofing around putting on her coat, hat, scarf, boots and mittens, I am warming up by shifting my weight from one foot to another, walking in circles and feeling the flexibility of my spine. I also feel the length of my upper body by bowing and shifting weight. You could adapt these simple movements before you go out. Some people call dogs dumb animals, but you never know when a snowplow is going to come byÖI need to be ready to jump and bark at it. I donít want to have sore muscles the next day from over-doing when not flexible. If you need suggestions for simple movements to keep you from tightening up during the day or to wake up your body, ask Anne. I see her playing with balls a lot lately and she isnít throwing them for me. It is very puzzling.

Anne is teaching a different kind of class, How to Get More Accomplished Doing Less, in Libertyville on March 11, 2008. It will be from 7 ñ 9 PM at The Gathering Place inside The Present Moment store. Register with the store at 847-367-1581.

One more thing: If you need a session, rest assured the driveway is clear for parking and the sidewalk is shoveled. I always check Anneís work. She isnít afraid to drive in the snow, if you have a housecall appointment, she will be there. She is going away March 12 ñ 19 to take a TragerÆ  class and probably again April 7 ñ 14 to assist a class, so donít wait until the last minute to get your appointment.

Call 847-287-9147 if you would like to come to see us, or if you want Anne to come see you (I wonít be offended.)
