Enjoy the Earth!
Ripley and I have a wicked case of Spring fever. The few really
nice days we have had only fuel the fire. He will sit outside
all day if the sun is shining, even if the temperature is only
hovering around 50 degrees. I prefer the 60s.
We have been taking extra long walks enjoying the sunshine, rain
and listening to the birds. My attention is also on how my body
is moving.
Pick one of these suggestions and take it for a walk. When you
can experience the sensations without thinking too much about
it, add another one of the ideas. You could mix up the order too.
Imagine leading with your knees. Most people throw their foot
out in front, so this is a little different. What if a Spring
breeze was assisting you from behind? If you picked up your knee
it could just glide forward with the breeze. Does that make the
landing of the foot softer? If you walk that way for a while,
how do your legs feel?
You can add a bungee cord from the sky attached to your sternum.
With a slight boost there, do your shoulders naturally drop and
slide back to hang rather than cave in and slump into a forward
roll?
Recently when I was assisting a Trager class, Amrita Daigle touched my ribs and gave the tiniest bit
of lift and support. She then asked if that area could wake up
and become active. It felt lighter so it didn't seem to be 'resting'
on my pelvis. I liked that feeling. My neck even seemed looser.
You can get the general idea by putting your hands on your ribs
either on the sides or one hand in front and one in back. Play
with that as you walk. See if you can add a little SpRiNg in your
step.
Earth Day is this month ... recycle.
If you are local, there is a new business dedicated to recycling
in Grayslake on Rt. 83. Rapid Refill Ink doesn't just refill your
printer cartridge with ink and give it back to you. They completely
clean and refurbish the cartridge and fill it with higher quality
ink than it originally came with. There are stores nationwide,
see http://www.rapidrefillink.com/
Their tagline is 'rethink reuse recycle reink.' They recycle the
zip lock packages the cartridges are sold in and even the fixtures
in the store are made from recycled materials. I am very happy
with the printing quality. Check it out, they offer 100% satisfaction
guarantee. What have you got to lose? Save money and the earth!
